Robert Lovelady, his brother Morris, and neice Amy came to Delano Park today to share their memories of their father, Horace Elbert Lovelady, who built the Delano bridge for a home at 703 Ferry Street, N.E over a fish pond. The bridge was moved from Ferry Street to Delano Park in the 1940's. The history of the bridge is very important to our community because it is an endearing symbol of Delano Park. | Delano Park Conservancy

The Swamp White Oak Tree, Quercus bicolor, is a long lived native White Oak that is easier to transplant than other white oaks such as the Bur Oak, Post Oak, and White Oak (Quercus alba). This Alabama native switch grass is taking on more of a rosy hue every day, and soon the rosy flower heads will be floating above the upright foliage. With true blue flowers and a hazy silvery appearance, this Perovskia is truly a favorite perennial to enhance the color and form of other flowers. The foliage of the 'Little Spire' is very fragrant when crushed, and the flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies.
