Today is International Day of Disaster Reduction. On this day, it’s good to keep in mind that climate change is fueling disasters such as Hurricane Matthew. The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has asked governments to take note of the profound implications of record carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere and to increase their level of ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to limit the impacts of climate change.
